Week 5: Renewing the Mind and Practice Daily

I LOVE these two verses.  They were truly tested yesterday.  Well, I was truly tested yesterday.   Trying to keep my opinions out of conversation, looking for opportunities to talk to people, seeking serving opportunities, PLUS dealing with cranky teens….all set my mind a whirling.  I had to FORCE myself to do my readings when I didn’t feel like it.

Colossians 3:2 Amplified Bible (AMP). 2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on the earth.

Romans 12:2 New International Version (NIV) Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

We must keep getting up no matter what.  In lesson 4 of Haanel and OG, creating good habits and practice is really what is screaming at me.  Perfect Practice Prevents Poor Performance.  It’s in the little things.  If it is just making 2 calls each day for your business, choosing to walk instead of go to the snack stand, reading great brain food instead of FB or news, taking 2 minutes to speak positive words to others instead of boasting on ourselves, drinking water instead of soda, and the little things go on….

Haanel 5.12 says, “The thing to do is to have a mental housecleaning, and to have this house cleaning every day, and keep the house clean.  Mental, moral and physical cleanliness are absolutely indispensable if we are to make progress of any kind.”

Keep renewing our minds daily:  feed it with good word, say it outloud many times per day.  We are so bombarded with the worlds words of greed and selfishness that we have to stand up and prepare every morning and finish strong every night.  Do it for yourself.  Do it for your family.  Teach it to your children.

And to finish this post,

Proverbs 16 New International Version (NIV)

16 To humans belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.

All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the Lord.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

The Lord works out everything to its proper end—
even the wicked for a day of disaster.

The Lord detests all the proud of heart.
Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.

Be humble, be a servant, let the Lord talk and work through you.

Week 4 Masterkey: Hall of Fame

My Personal Pivitol Needs are Autonomy/Liberty and RECOGNITION!  I have suppressed the recognition for years and my gut desires and craves it.  I want to be on stage.  I want to be noticed.  Biblically we need to strive for God’s promotion and recognition.  I desire to accomplish big things and be on a stage teaching other how to do the same!

The lyrics from the following song speaks deep to me this week:

“Hall Of Fame”
(feat. Will.I.Am)

Yeah, you can be the greatest
You can be the best
You can be the King Kong banging on your chestYou can beat the world
You can beat the war
You can talk to God, go banging on his doorYou can throw your hands up
You can beat the clock (yeah)
You can move a mountain
You can break rocks
You can be a master
Don’t wait for luck
Dedicate yourself and you gon’ find yourselfStanding in the hall of fame
And the world’s gonna know your nameCause you burn with the brightest flame

And the world’s gonna know your name
And you’ll be on the walls of the hall of fame

You can go the distance
You can run the mile
You can walk straight through hell with a smile

You can be the hero
You can get the gold
Breaking all the records they thought never could be broke

Yeah, do it for your people
Do it for your pride
How are you ever gonna know if you never even try?

Do it for your country
Do it for your name
‘Cause there’s gonna be a day…

When you’re standing in the hall of fame
And the world’s gonna know your name
‘Cause you burn with the brightest flame
And the world’s gonna know your name
And you’ll be on the walls of the hall of fame

Be a champion, be a champion, be a champion, be a champion
On the walls of the hall of fame

Be students
Be teachers
Be politicians
Be preachers

Be believers, Be leaders, Be astronauts, Be champions, Be truth seekers

In Haanel this week in chapter 4, we are reading about our “I” and how it is in us.  I am getting into the habit of finding bible passages that match what we read and today’s is here:   Romans 8:11 ..The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

In addition to observing the colors, I am observing the life in me, the words in music, and the simple things that makes my mind focus during the still time every morning.  BTW….my service is done today 😉 !!

Week 3 Masterkey: Silence in the observation

Still challenged with the SIT, but getting better.  I looked up some bible passages to ponder on during my still time and found these:

Job 6:24 Teach me, and I will be silent; make me understand how I have gone astray.

Psalm 131:2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me.

Psalm 62:5 For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him.

Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

1 Kings 19:11-12  And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire the sound of a low whisper.

Isaiah 30:15 For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”  But you were not willing.

Did you see the last phrase of this verse?!  But you were not willing!  We must be willing to be quiet!  Our Strong Voice is a whisper.  God has a massive plan for all of us.  When we wait in silence, calm and quiet our soul, we are taught and are rested and promoted.  We must demand of ourselves this time, this “going against the grain” of what the world wants.  The enemy wants us to be busy and distracted.  Don’t let him take you there!

In the Greatest Salesman, I didn’t understand what was meant by unnecessary knowledge and meaningless experience.  In my quiet reading and daily life, I kept thinking of my knowledge and experience screaming, “get on the phone, call people, you have a list to be working with.”  “GET BUSY!”  I must develop these habits and not let that old blueprint scream, “get to work!”  There is a time for my work.  There is a time I MUST carve out for my thoughts, first.  I am excited to see what the future scrolls hold.  “I find myself reacting to all situations which confront me as I was commanded in the scrolls to react.”  I promise not to look ahead, but to wait for 30 days of mastery of this scroll.  Keeping my thoughts in check and getting into right thinking when those thoughts of negativity and doubt creep is what I continue daily.

In my observing this past weekend, I was wondering where I was going to notice blue rectangles.  Now red circles, green triangles and yellow rectangles?!  I was still on the way to church and looked around….they are EVERYwhere!  Blue:  stripes on railroad tracks, signs, FLAGS, semis, nametag, and stripes on buildings.  Red:  stop lights, brake lights, O on a scrolling sign, windmill, “no trucks” sign, balloons, umbrella, tops of red posts, and Christmas ball ornaments.  Green (this was tougher): pine trees, gable ends of green buildings, gazebo roof, bike route frame of bike has a triangle shape.  Yellow:  semis, curve signs, ditch flags, billboards, signs.

This was easier than I thought….when I focus, relax, and just observe!  Very excited as to how I feel after accomplishing the colors on my cards and how it is connecting the brain.

Week 2 Masterkey: Control and Energy!

Sit.  Still.  15-30 minutes.  Control your body.  Don’t move any part. (no fidgeting I tell my fingers)  Now this week, control your thoughts….you may only be able to do this for a few moments at a time…yeah, you got that right!  “Think on these things:  whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.” Phil 4:8.  So I tell my mind this and we focus for about 60 seconds, then chasing tasks for the day, wondering what someone thought of something I did yesterday, why someone didn’t call me back, what I need to teach my kids today, ok back to my dream of leading 1000 women leaders on stage with me, focus, focus, focus.  OH, I need to do laundry on Wednesday…….back, back, back.  I will get this mastered!

My subconscious will come under my control.  I do not let it wander back to the old blueprint of negativity, cynicism, critical words, or laziness.

How long will you lie down, O sluggard?
When will you arise from your sleep?
A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to rest;;
And your poverty will come in like a vagabond,
And your need like an armed man.
Prov. 6:9-11

Last week I couldn’t sleep enough.
This week after reading the following below, my mind AND body are ready to roll at 5:30/6 am. Thank you #masterkey #lazynetworker
I have abundant excitement to rise for the day, again!  I have energy and time to sit, read, focus.20140904_093558

My reading 3x/day: (part)
“As the words of these scrolls are consumed by my mysterious mind I begin to awake, each morning, with a vitality I have never known before. My vigor increases, my enthusiasm rises, my desire to meet the world overcomes every fear I once knew at sunrise, and I am happier than I ever believe it possible to be in this world of strife and sorrow.”

Ephesians 5:15-17Amplified Bible (AMP)

15 Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people),

16 Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil.

17 Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is.

Week 1 Masterkey

A second blog in my first week!?  I thought I wouldn’t have a clue as to how to operate this new technology!  Masterkey class is not as overwhelming as I thought.  I even have my kids writing their Definite Major Purpose with their dream list we started a couple of months ago.

Loving OG Mandino’s book, The Greatest Salesman in the World.  I read scroll 1 3x/day.  AND I see/read something new each time.  “I form good habits and become their slave.  …Only a habit can subdue another habit.”

Bible study today …Fruit of the Spirit.  God does not ask us to be “busy.”  He calls us to bear fruit.  I ask myself, “Are my activities fruitful?  Do I have time to observe and be attentive to people who need help?  Do I need to say no to certain things/activities?”

Replace bad habits with another habit/activity.  Review and review again.  Take time to think/pray about anything new to add.  Complete your current commitments and pray for wisdom if you should step down and offer the opportunity to lead.  It will make your days and pace less stressful.
