Week 13: I am a channel (vessel)

I am made in His image.  I wear His royal crown.  I am God’s channel.  2 Tim 2:21 says, “Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.”

Toward the end of lesson 13 in Haanel this week, I was reminded of being of service: that “I give without expectation of reciprocity of the channels I enrich…”  It does not matter who I bless.  Blessings will flow back to me from another source.  Kind of like the game Mousetrap or any other marble game we have played.  The marble (source) comes at us through many chutes and we have many chutes that we can spit that marble back out to keep it going in the game.

I have been fighting this negative attitude creeping up with holidays coming:  like “no one cares what I have to do” and “I have to do everything, with no Thanks.”  Jeepers, could it be more pathetic!  Get over ME.  Serve, give, and the blessings will flow back in time.

It’s going to be a fast week, but fun.  Keeping feeding this subby will require extreme persistence!  I found a couple of nuggets of wisdom in other reading:

“Meekness is not weekness; it is power under control.”–Warren Weirsbe, Moody Bible College

and

“In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”  Isaiah 30:15

I am thankful for this quiet afternoon to get my reading and blogging in!

May this week be time to be quiet and meek for you and me.

Week 12: Do you know the POWER you have?

I was feeling down and powerless last week.  Partly from illness, partly from energy drains from my kids.  I had forgotten about the 2 hours we needed to set aside for our webinar on Sunday.  At 3:05pm MT I was in front of my bathroom mirror saying the SAME phrase over and over and over for 50 solid minutes!  What in the world does this have to do with POWER?!  Especially after almost losing my voice during the exercise.  Obviously TONS.

It gave me energy, control, vibrations, and excitement again.  It seems silly, but, if it works, I am all over it.

Haanel says in 11:“You must first have the knowledge of your power; second, the courage to dare; third, the faith to do.” If you concentrate upon the thoughts given, if you give them your entire attention, you will find a world of meaning in each sentence, and will attract to yourself other thoughts in harmony with them, and you will soon grasp the full significance of the vital knowledge upon which you are concentrating.”

Holy Cow!!  Knowing we have the creative Power in us, in our thoughts, and can control it!  Courage comes from practice (mirror–over and over and over!).  Faith is doing this exercise because we trust the system, our teachers, even though it seems crazy.  Concentrate on the thoughts, the words, give full attention…they have meaning!  It attractts other thoughts in harmony.  My voice got better after it.  I felt better, more excitement.

Power Scripture:

2 Timothy 1:7

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Ephesians 6:10

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

Ephesians 3:20

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.

Haanel 22. “Things are created in the mental or spiritual world before they appear in the outward act or event. By the simple process of governing our thought forces today, we help create the events which will come into our lives in the future, perhaps even tomorrow. Educated desire is the most potent means of bringing into action the law of attraction.”

I don’t think it was coincidence that I chose to do Taebo as my winter/indoor workout this year.  I pulled out some of my 90’s VHS tapes this week and giggled at our task this week:  “Practice the Mind Gym a few minutes daily with my shapes, touching opposite hand to opposite knee/foot/leg.”  This is what Taebo is ALL about.  So I hung a shape poster above the TV to see while I jump around and do opposite knees to hands/elbows.  Also noticing the vivid colors and shapes in the video:  Blue rectangle mat, yellow rectangles on walls, red circle O, and when we bend our knee or elbow, we get triangles.  And do you see the scripture on the wall?  “Walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Cor. 5:7)  LINKED!

Week 11: A new belief

Wise people told me long ago to always look on both sides of a bible verse to get the whole meaning.  I LOVE that our sit this week is to reflect on a bible verse!  So, I grabbed my bible and looked up the whole phrase.  It is circled in my text from some previous studies.  As I read the whole section, I remembered that I had a tough time understanding, realizing, and actually believing what this taught.  I could say to a mountain….”go throw yourself into the ocean”?!  Doubtful.  But with faith, I can ask what I want, believe that I have it, and it is mine.

Mark 11:23-26

23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. 24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. 25 And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

This has been a great exercise this week and it is only Wednesday.  More trust, more faith, more belief.

We are still No Opinions and 7 day mental diet.  Starting over AGAIN today.  Just can’t keep the flapper shut and listen.  I was reminded of an acronym by a good realtor friend:  FROG.  When you want to talk to people but don’t know what to say and want to control the opinion, ask about their Family, Recreation, Occupation, and Goals (or Dreams….then it would be FORD).  Some questions could be:

F:  What brings you to this area from____?  Is your family here or there?  Are you looking forward to kids coming for Christmas?

R:  What do you like to do for fun?  What do you like best about it?  Where did you learn to do that?

O:  What do you do for a living?  Did you attend school for that?  What do you like best about that line of work?

G:  What do you look forward to with your family?  With your work?  What are some things on your “bucket list?”

I joined a Toastmaster group this month.  One step closer to my speaking in front of 10,000 people that is on my DMP that I read 3x/day.  I do my “first” speech next week on Conversing with Ease.  I will talk about FROG and do a roleplay of this in a social setting.  I’m nervous as ever!  5P’s is coming into play here….Perfect Practice Prevents Poor Performance!  I had perfect opportunity last night to do this and what did I do?  Opened my mouth with opinions and failed to ask questions!  At least I recognized it and ready to improve.

Week 10: Look past the problem

As I was focusing on that cone this morning, all I could think of was “4!?, Look past the problem.  When you focus on the problem, you can’t see the solution…Eight, eight, yes, eight is a good answer!

From Patch Adams.  It took SO much brain effort and concentration to get that darn cone visualized!  It took making my vision fuzzy, looking past the wall, to get the cone to come.  THIS is one hard exercise!

On the other hand, Christmas season is easier to see all of our colors!  Wow!  There are a lot of red circles/balls everywhere!  Red Santa hats are CONES!  Green trees are CONES, Blue squares/gifts, and Yellow gifts!

Reading Lesson 10.14 in Haanel: “…the Great Teacher said:  ‘It is not I that doeth the works, but the Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the work.'” reminded me of the book of John 14 (NIV).  What do you think?

John 14:6-21

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know[b] my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”

Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves. 12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

And then in that same sentence of Haanel 10.14 it says “…we can do nothing to assist in the manifestation…”  Phil 4:13 again:  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”

At the end of Haanel 10.23, it says “…you will find that the things you seek are seeking you.”

DO you get this!?!  I reworded it into my affirmation: “I find that the things I seek, are seeking me!”
